A huge thanks to our Headline Sponsor - High Corn Mill
Entries for the awards have now closed and after a fantastic response from businesses of Skipton and the BD23 area they are being presented to judges for preliminary consideration. The working party would like to thank everyone for the enthusiastic take-up in this, the awards inaugural year as 85 entries were confirmed as received.
Wendy Lawson, Awards Coordinator explained, “Entries are now being sent to judges for initial consideration, before coming together to choose finalists from entries on Tuesday 21st February. She went on to explain that finalists would be contacted from 22nd February, as a priority and all entrants would be contacted and acknowledged after that.
In addition to the fantastic response to entering the awards in its first year, Wendy also confirmed that a Headline Sponsor had come forward in support of the Awards.
Andrew Mear of High Corn Mill has stepped forward to majorly support the Awards as Headline Sponsor. A true philanthropist he is already involved in contributing time and expertise to the business community in Skipton and was happy to support this initiative which champions Skipton and BD23 businesses. High Corn Mill, one of Skipton’s most historic buildings has been sensitively renovated over time and now houses several businesses as well as retaining a working water-wheel which generates power for the building and nearby properties.
President, Billy Moffat said of Andrew Mear’s support, “The Awards were created to offer local businesses an opportunity to promote what they do best. It has been so encouraging to receive the support of independent Skipton businesses contributing to the success of one another through sponsorship. Andrew and his family have owned and run successful businesses in Skipton for decades. His generosity to the awards in our first year will ensure that 2017 is a success and that we can plan for future years, which will give the opportunity for many more businesses to be recognised each year for their hard work and passion; making Skipton a thriving, nationally recognised, great community. On behalf of the Skipton Chamber of Trade & Commerce and Awards working party, I would like to thank Andrew and all sponsors for their incredible support towards this initiative.”
Initial Foundation funding was received from Skipton BID.
